Hospital location was the right choice

-

I have been following all the complaints about the new hospital location.

I have watched from the start how the committee formed to deal with this challenge carefully looked into many alternatives and addressed the need to have medical facilities in downtown Windsor remain available.

I believe this committee went about the challenge with great effort to find a solution to our much-needed medical facilities upgrade in Essex County.

Perhaps people would have a better understanding of the location if they realized this hospital is to serve the needs of all Essex County, not just Windsor.

Many patients in this area, including myself, have had to travel to London or further to receive medical services that are more professionally available in specific hospitals where the level of excellence is enhanced by the number of similar cases being treated. There is also increased availability of specialists.

I believe changes that are proposed are positive, even though some people may think it is inconvenient that those services are not available at every hospital.

I believe the objectors mean well, but are out of touch with the realities of the situation. This hospital is for Essex County so it should be more central to the total population.

The concerns about Windsor's core are real, but they cannot be allowed to hinder the more important issue of delivery of the best possible health care to everyone in the area. Downtown Windsor's vibrancy is an issue that has a lot more elements than where the hospital will be located.
