Funeral directors deserve recognition
How thankful we all are for our Front Line and Essential Workers, helping us cope with this pandemic. I must say there is one group of people that are not getting the recognition they rightly deserve: Funeral Directors. These are the people who prepare our loved ones for their final resting place. Death can be overwhelming at any time for families, but losing our loved ones who are scared and alone in a room with no closure is heartbreaking.
In the end, these emotions are brought to our Funeral Directors. Our daughter-inlaw works in the field and I can see the emotional strain that COVID is putting on her.
I believe it is time for our government and the public to recognize the funeral industry as Front Line Workers. They too are exposed to the virus on a daily basis, and left to deal with the mental and emotional burden, as well.
