Purchase a Dove Pin to help provide hospice care

The local hospice's annual Dove Pin campaign takes flight again this weekend.

“By making a donation and wearing a Dove Pin, you are helping provide quality care and memorable moments to hospice patients and their loved ones,” said Katharen Bortolin, incoming executive director of the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.

“We would love for you to stop by one of our locations, say hello to our amazing volunteers, make a donation, and proudly wear your locally made Hospice Dove Pin.”

Over the four decades that hospice has been providing end-of-life care to the community, the Hospice Dove has stood as a symbol of the organization, its patients, and their families.

Volunteers will be offering the one-inch dove-shaped lapel pins at 30 different locations across Windsor-essex, daily until Sunday.

The locations include various Home Hardware, Metro, Rexall, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sobeys, and Zehrs stores, as well as Colasanti's Tropical Gardens, Anna's Garden, and Cindy's Home and Garden.

They pins are available for a donation, which will go toward supportive care for local hospice patients and families.

They were designed and manufactured locally with the help of Ground Effects Ltd. and Mega Mold International.

“We are so happy to see this project continue to grow,” said Ground Effects president Jim Scott. “Hospice is very close to our hearts, and both the Ground Effects and the Mega Mold teams are proud to help.”

A list of locations where pins are available, as well as additional information about the campaign, can be found on the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County website.
