China launches its Chang’e-3 lunar probe to the Moon. It has been the first time that a Chinese spacecraft makes a soft landing on the surface of an extraterrestrial body. China becomes the third country to do so after the United States and the Soviet Union. The Chang’e-3 includes a lander and a moon rover called Yutu ( Jade Rabbit).
