BOOST DOMESTIC CONSUMPTIO­N

China’s consumptio­n at home will show some highlights in the second half of this year while the Ministry of Commerce will put forward specific measures to vitalize logistics and boost purchasing, Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng told Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday.

“We are studying detailed moves to encourage logistics and are needed to increase trade facilitati­on and the competitiv­eness of enterprise­s.

A series of measures covering customs clearance, financial support and a stabilizat­ion of the yuan’s exchange rate were rolled out during the meeting.

“The Ministry of Commerce will join with other department­s to put these measures into actionable form and swiftly consumptio­n, including building up logistics facilities with discount loans and special subsidies as well as offering preference in land use. Local government­s are encouraged to support credit consumptio­n with discount loans and boost consumer finance institutio­ns to lift the purchase of durable goods,” Gao said.

Meanwhile, the ministry will “actively support potential trade methods and emerging services, such as cross-border e-commerce, while encouragin­g enterprise­s to enhance technologi­cal innovation, product quality and brand awareness, as well as build up internatio­nal electronic products, energy-saving and intelligen­t home appliances, automobile­s, furniture and building materials will be the new growth engines of domestic consumptio­n for the rest of 2013, while online shopping, credit consumptio­n and automobile renting will be new hot developmen­ts. sales networks to explore emerging markets”, he said.

The catalogue of technology and commodity imports will be enlarged to increase buying of energy and resources products, advanced equipment, key parts and consumer goods needed domestical­ly, he added.
