US embassy seeks extension

The US embassy in India sought a deadline extension on Monday for filing visa and other information on its employees and consulates in the country, sources said. New Delhi last week asked US diplomats and consulate staff to submit their ID cards by Monday, following the arrest and strip-search of an Indian female diplomat in New York on Dec 12 on charges of visa fraud and underpaying her maid.
