Timeline: Joint venture university in Shenzhen
March 2011: Shenzhen government signs a framework agreement with Chinese University of Hong Kong to develop a joint venture university in the city.
Oct 11, 2012: Foundation of Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is laid in Shenzhen’s Longgang district.
May 2013: University’s governing board is established.
Aug 1, 2013: Xu Yangsheng, vice-president of Chinese University of Hong Kong, is appointed as president.
April 2014: University approved by the Ministry of Education, under the administrative management of the provincial government.
September 2014: University recruits its first group of 313 students.
End of 2015: 40 percent of freshmen at the university begin academic exchanges with overseas colleges.
Future enrollment: By September, the university plans to expand the number of students to about 2,000.
