So­ci­ety: Zhe­jiang work­ers take 1 year to make carved bed frame

Eight work­ers in Wen zhou, Zhe­jiang province, have spent one year and more than 1 mil­lion yuan ($145,000) to make a hand-carved wooden bed frame. They carved more than 130 Chi­nese clas­si­cal fig­ures onto the frame, made with wood from China-fir, a tree in the cy­press fam­ily. The frame is 3.8 me­ters long, 2.5 me­ters wide and 2.55 me­ters high.
