Ex-official gets 12 years for graft
Jiang Shan, former Party chief of Chuzhou in Anhui province, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for abuse of power and accepting bribes. The Wuhu Intermediate People’s Court said Jiang, 54, caused losses of more than 168 million yuan ($24 million) due to his handling of land-transfer fees, and he accepted bribes totaling more than 4.33 million yuan. Jiang was fined 1.4 million yuan and his illegal gains will be confiscated, according to the court. The defendant lodged an appeal.
