Takata airbags recall plans filed by BMW
BMW filed the recall plans for seven models, involving a total of 193,611 imported and locally manufactured cars, for defective Takata airbags beginning in August 2017. The countr y ’s quality watchdog announced last week that the German brand will recall 168,861 importe”d BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, X1, X3, X5, X6, M3, as well as 24,750 locally-manufactured BMW 3 Series and X1 made between 2005 and 2011. These vehicles’ airbags for front passengers may spray metal shards upon deployment, which could potentially cause injur y. The automaker will replace the faulty parts free of charge.
