Met officials to name major weather events

China Meteorological Administration will release the top 10 Chinese and global weather events of 2016 on Thursday. They were chosen by netizens from a pool of 32 events. They included Typhoon Meranti and the cold front that hit the southern part of China in January. The national weather authority will also issue an update on the La Nina phenomenon and its impact on China.

The Russian National Ballet Theatre will stage SleepingBeauty at the Guangdong Performing Arts Center Theater in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Friday. The classic fairy tale was written by Charles Perrault. The Russian theater’s repertoire includes not only classics such as SwanLake, TheNutcracker and Sleeping Beauty, but also modern ballets set to the music of Mozart, Bach and Ravel.
