Former official tried for graft

Zhao Shaolin, a former senior official in Jiangsu province, stood trial at a court in Ningbo on Tuesday on charges of offering bribes and purchasing foreign exchange reserves through deception. Prosecutors alleged that Zhao, a former member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Jiangsu Provincial Committee, sought illicit benefits for his son’s real estate business from 2007 to 2014. The verdict will be issued at a later date, the court said.
