14 held over Paraguay heist

Police said on Wednesday that the number of arrests after Monday’s robbery of a private security company in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, had risen to 14. The crime has been attributed to one of Brazil’s largest gangs in Sao Paulo. Media said $40 million was stolen but Prosegur, the Spanish company involved, denied this on Tuesday and said the loot was closer to $8 million. One security guard was killed and another was injured, along with three civilians, in the attack.
