Below are the recruiting plans of three education institutions in China and the compensation packages they offer to high-level teaching or research staff who have studied or worked abroad:

Guangzhou University in Guangdong province plans to recruit directors from around the world for 14 of its schools. Most of the schools are science-based, such as math, physics, chemistry, life sciences and environmental sciences.

The university also plans to recruit 900 teachers and 500 researchers during the period of the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-20), with more than 40 percent of them holding a doctor’s degree obtained overseas.

Those hired will receive a basic annual salary of 160,000 yuan ($23,237), a living allowance of 200,000 yuan, a stipend ranging from 80,000 to 160,000 yuan and research funds up to 200,000 yuan.

The university also promises to provide opportunities for children of staff to enter kindergartens, primary and middle schools.

East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai announced at the beginning of the year that it is seeking top experts and talents from China and overseas in fields such as law and public administration.

Those recruited will receive an annual salary of up to 1 million yuan and an allowance of up to 8 million yuan to support them to purchase a house in the city, where house prices are among the highest in China. They will also be given research funds of 500,000 yuan and a working allowance of up to 1 million yuan.

According to the university, this is the largest compensation package it has ever offered to attract talents.
