Hong Kong projects focus on community integration

These property developments included residential areas, open park areas, malls and office buildings, which allows maximized use of the transportation area.
The model is a sustainable one as the profits generated from the prop e r t y s a l e s c an b e u s e d to finance the railway projects, without any subsidies from the government, Leong stressed.
The MTR project planned with the users and community in mind to develop a people-oriented project, according to Leong, as experts at the panel emphasized the importance of engaging users in the planning and development of sustainable projects.
D o u g l a s Wo o C h u n - k u e n , Chairman & Managing Director at Wheelock and Company Ltd, reiterated the significance of close partnership with its contractors, occupants and other stakeholders in building a sustainable environment.
“Not one organization can do it itself- not a government, not an NGO (non-governmental organization), not an individual. It’s everyone coming together,” he said.
