Fugitive caught after 17 years

Liu Mengping, a fugitive wanted for 17 years, was arrested in late June over allegations of taking bribes, police confirmed on Saturday. The former accountant for a subsidiary of China International Water and Electric Corp fled to Southeast Asia via Hong Kong after being placed under investigation in June 2000. After learning of her recent whereabouts, police said she was arrested on June 29, but gave no further details.
