Jinsha River opera to be staged at NCPA

The National Center for the Performing Arts will stage the opera

from July 28 to Aug 2. The opera was commissioned to mark the anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army on Aug 1. It is based on a novel of the same name, published in 1959, and features folk songs. The opera is about the Red Army during the Long March and the friendships forged with people living in Tibetan areas along the Jinsha River.
