Uproar in Istanbul over Sneijder exit
Turkish giant Galatasaray has terminated fan favorite Wesley Sneijder’s contract, with the Dutch international seemingly not in Croatian coach Igor Tudor’s plans.
The news sparked angry protests on the weekend at the club’s headquarters in Istanbul as fans called for the resignation of chairman Dursun Ozbek, the state-run Anadolu news agency said.
As he left for Amsterdam, former Inter Milan and Real Madrid star Sneijder, 33, who joined Gala in 2013, said: ‘Of course I feel sad. If you have to leave like that it’s not very nice. The coach made his choices and I have to respect that.”
