Pel­i­cans pick up ex­pe­ri­enced Rondo

Four-time NBA All-Star point guard Ra­jon Rondo, who helped Bos­ton win the 2008 NBA ti­tle, has agreed to terms on a one-year con­tract with the New Or­leans Pel­i­cans, ac­cord­ing to reports.

The 31-year-old Amer­i­can, who spent last sea­son with the Chicago Bulls, com­mit­ted to a deal af­ter meet­ings on Thurs­day and Satur­day with Pel­i­cans gen­eral man­ager Dell Demps and head coach Alvin Gen­try, Ya­hoo Sports and ESPN re­ported on Satur­day.

Rondo, a for­mer team­mate of Pel­i­cans cen­ter DeMar­cus Cousins in Sacra­mento dur­ing the 2015-16 cam­paign, will likely will serve as a backup to Jrue Hol­i­day, who was re-signed to a five-year, $126mil­lion guar­an­teed deal.
