Pelicans pick up experienced Rondo

-

Four-time NBA All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, who helped Boston win the 2008 NBA title, has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to reports.

The 31-year-old American, who spent last season with the Chicago Bulls, committed to a deal after meetings on Thursday and Saturday with Pelicans general manager Dell Demps and head coach Alvin Gentry, Yahoo Sports and ESPN reported on Saturday.

Rondo, a former teammate of Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins in Sacramento during the 2015-16 campaign, will likely will serve as a backup to Jrue Holiday, who was re-signed to a five-year, $126million guaranteed deal.
