3,918 websites shut down in Q2

A total of 3,918 websites were shut down by China’s internet watchdogs from April to June, the Cyberspace Administra­tion of China said in a statement on Saturday. The websites included those publishing content that jeopardize­d national security, and those that spread violence, vulgarity or ungrounded rumors. police received reports from tourists who said their property was stolen while watching the ceremony, a popular activity. Police said gang members coordinate­d since May to steal various items from viewers near the square.
