Broker held over trafficked ‘bride’

A man in Xixian county paid a broker an initial payment of 10,000 yuan ($1,480) to buy a wife but demanded a refund because he thought she was not good looking. The broker refused to return the money , so the groom-to-be reported the incident to the police. Upon investigation, police officers found that the woman was a native of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and had been trafficked to Henan province. The broker was detained and the case is under investigation.
