Suicide bid halts rush-hour traffic

-

Traffic on the Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan came to a standstill for more than an hour on the morning of July 23 after a woman threatened to kill herself. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at about 7:30 am, responding to reports of a woman in her 30s threatening to throw herself off the bridge. An officer successfully persuaded the woman to give up her suicide bid at about 8:30 am and traffic returned to normal soon after. It is not yet known why the woman wanted to kill herself, police said.
