Foreign universities rule in Chengdu
New Zealand’s University of Otago and Cambridge University of Britain won the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the eighth Chengdu International Universities Rowing Race on Saturday.
Otago finished first in the 800m men’s eights ahead of University of London and University of Melbourne while in the women’s 800m coxless fours, Cambridge came home first, beating Yale University and the University of London, which were second and third respectively.
Twelve domestic and international universities took part in the regatta, which was aimed at promoting rowing and enhancing exchanges between Chinese and foreign universities.
Rowing, ATP250, a youth soccer tournament and triathlon competitions are the biggest international events in Chengdu, provincial capital of Sichuan.
