For­eign uni­ver­si­ties rule in Chengdu

New Zea­land’s Univer­sity of Otago and Cam­bridge Univer­sity of Bri­tain won the men’s and women’s ti­tles re­spec­tively at the eighth Chengdu In­ter­na­tional Uni­ver­si­ties Row­ing Race on Sat­ur­day.

Otago fin­ished first in the 800m men’s eights ahead of Univer­sity of Lon­don and Univer­sity of Mel­bourne while in the women’s 800m cox­less fours, Cam­bridge came home first, beat­ing Yale Univer­sity and the Univer­sity of Lon­don, which were sec­ond and third re­spec­tively.

Twelve do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional uni­ver­si­ties took part in the re­gatta, which was aimed at pro­mot­ing row­ing and en­hanc­ing ex­changes be­tween Chi­nese and for­eign uni­ver­si­ties.

Row­ing, ATP250, a youth soc­cer tour­na­ment and triathlon com­pe­ti­tions are the big­gest in­ter­na­tional events in Chengdu, pro­vin­cial cap­i­tal of Sichuan.
