Well-pre­served Bud­dhist mu­rals and clay sculp­tures from the Ming Dy­nasty (13681644) were re­cently dis­cov­ered at a Ti­betan lama tem­ple in Sichuan prov­ince, pro­vid­ing rich re­search ma­te­ri­als per­tain­ing to Ti­betan Bud­dhism. The mu­rals with their unique lo­cal tech­niques, ra­di­ant col­ors, smooth lines, elegant dec­o­ra­tions and com­pact lay­out, high­light the unique ap­proach to art dur­ing the dy­nasty. The tem­ple was built in 1269.
