No verdict reached in brick death case

S H A N G H A I DA I LY Jinghu Dis­trict Peo­ple’s Court has yet to pass a verdict fol­low­ing a pub­lic hear­ing in Wuhu on July 25 in which fam­ily mem­bers of a mo­tor­cy­cle rider, who was killed af­ter be­ing hit by brick that fell from a build­ing, asked for 526,671 yuan ($78,525) in com­pen­sa­tion. A total of 176 peo­ple from 96 house­holds liv­ing above the sec­ond floor in a 32-story res­i­den­tial build­ing were taken to court. Foren­sic sci­en­tists con­firmed the man had been killed by a fall­ing brick in Oc­to­ber, but none of the res­i­dents have ad­mit­ted to throw­ing a brick.
