QR codes to help de­men­tia suf­fers

A total of 1.5 mil­lion po­si­tion­ing QR codes were do­nated to China Pop­u­la­tion Wel­fare Foun­da­tion to help pre­vent old peo­ple with se­nile de­men­tia from be­ing lost. Zhu Zong­han, founder of Shang­hai Iword Net­work Tech­nol­ogy Co Ltd, man­u­fac­turer of the code, said if an old man was lost, the passersby can scan the code printed on his clothes, which was linked to his per­sonal in­for­ma­tion, and send the lo­ca­tion to their fam­ily mem­bers through its ap­pli­ca­tion or short mes­sages. The com­pany also do­nated 100,000 yuan ($14,900) to sup­port the project.
