Resident’s basement sparks safety fears

Concerns have been raised about the structural integrity of an apartment building in the city’s Banan district, after the man living on the ground floor dug a 300-square-meter basement underneath his 50-sq-m home. The apartment owner has refused to fill in the basement, which contains seven bedrooms, despite being instructed to do so by the local urban planning department. An investigation has been launched after multiple complaints from the man’s upstairs neighbors.
