Where lovebirds flock for Qixi

Many lovebirds are splurging on long-haul flights for Qixi, or “Chinese Valentine’s Day”, which falls on Aug 28 this year.

Bookings with HHtravel, a luxury brand under China’s biggest online travel agency, Ctrip, surged 35 percent during this period, chief operating officer Guo Ming says. Per-capita spending ranges from 100,000 yuan to 120,000 yuan ($14,970- $17,960).

HHtravel has announced the most-popular destinatio­ns for its affluent and amorous customers during the period.

Italy’s second-largest island is celebrated as a romantic getaway. The Forte Village Resort is hidden in serene forests and offers privacy, seawater spas and sports. It also proffers performanc­es and gourmet dining.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve possesses a natural appeal, in every sense. The Four Seasons Hotel in the Gulf of Papagayo offers a private beach, horse riding, golfing and rainforest adventures.
