Global Sources Electronics is recognized by international buyers as a platform to discover and source the newest electronic products...” Tommy Wong,
Sources Launchpad, stressed the importance of expanding offline distribution channels to help startup companies survive.
Only 10 percent of consumers buy online. To tap into the larger market share — which is 90 percent of consumers — startups have to find offline distributors to reach them.
Wong said this is where Global Sources comes in — as it is a platform to connect the emerging startups with renowned distributors.
More than 240 hardware startups from 14 countries and regions will join the Startup Lauchpad next month. This represents a 56-percent yearon-year growth in numbers, Wong said.
Dongguan Taide Industrial Co Ltd, a manufacturer of Bluetooth headsets and wireless Wi-Fi speakers, is one of the beneficiaries of the connecting power of the shows.
According to Olivia Yang, a sales representative for the company, up to 95 percent of the clients were acquired through trade shows and exhibitions.
She said sales revenues skyrocketed after the company started producing Bluetooth speakers and attending trade shows in 2009.
Running concurrently with the Mobile Electronics from Oct 18 to 32, the Global Sources Gift and Home will showcase innovative gifts and home products.
Also running as part of the 2017 Global Sources autumn show, the Global Sources Fashion show will host 1,800 booths with accessories, fabrics and apparel from Oct 27 to 30.
The autumn show this year will run for three weeks and have 9,000 booths — a growth of 5 percent compared to its spring show in April.
