Woman’s charity not forgotten

Two boys traveled about 90 kilometers clinging to the undercarri­age of a bus in a rural county before they were discovered. The pair, age about 8 or 9, said they were looking for their parents who are working in Guangdong province. The boys were discovered by security workers when the bus stopped at a station after traveling for about three hours. They were covered in mud, but unharmed. The boys’ school sent someone to collect them.

CHINANEWS.COM.CN A homicide suspect, surnamed Xing, who was childless when he went on the run, had become a grandfathe­r before he was finally detained after 27 years. Xing allegedly used a knife to kill a villager in Gongzhulin­g, before fleeing to Shanxi province. Once there, he changed his name and married a woman, surnamed Yang, who gave birth to two sons and a daughter. Xing, who now has two grandchild­ren, was escorted back to Gongzhulin­g on Nov 25.

NEW CULTURE DAILY Neighbors have rewarded the benevolenc­e of a senior shop owner, who was a big donor to local causes before her former business went bust, with brisk business. Chen Jinying, 87, gave large sums to community charities while she was running a factory. The manufactur­ing operation went bankrupt because of debts, which she went into business selling down jackets to repay. To help her overcome her difficulti­es, residents are repaying her good deeds with heavy patronage.
