Deeper integration between the internet, big data, artificial intelligence and manufacturing will be encouraged, and guidelines for spurring the digital economy will be introduced, Miao said.

To achieve that goal, China will launch a series of strategic actions and significant projects, make breakthroughs in core technologies, promote internet upgrading and updating, and provide more affordable internet access to the public.

The Ministry of Industry and Information is implementing a three year action plan to build China into a cyber power by improving the information infrastructure supply capacity and increasing the network speed. It is also formulating guidance documents to promote network security.

In 2018, 100 megabyte internet broadband will be popularized nationwide, and the construction of cities with 1,000 megabyte internet broadband will be promoted. A high speed 4G network will fully cover the rural and urban areas, and the cost of mobile internet use will be reduced.
