Last month’s food and raw material prices to be released

French President Emmanuel Macron will pay a state visit to China from Jan 8 to 10 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang announced Tuesday. It will be Macron’s first state visit to China. Xi and Macron, who took office in May, have spoken twice by phone and met in Hamburg, Germany, during the G20 Summit last year.

On Jan 10, the National Bureau of Statistics will release lists of the food and raw material prices in 50 major cities for last month. These prices are a major component of the consumer price index - a primary gauge of inflation. China’s CPI grew 1.7 percent yearon-year in November, slowing slightly from October’s 1.9 percent, the agency said.
