Harboring the world’s finest

-

Museum-quality sculptures by some of the world’s best-known contemporary artists, such as Yayoi Kusama and Tracey Emin, are now on show in one of Hong Kong’s most iconic tourist spots. Set against the backdrop of the Hong Kong skyline along the Victoria Harbour, these extraordinary works of art dot the grassy lawns from Central and Western District Promenade to the Western Garden to Edinburgh Place.

The pop-up show which lasts until April 11 is a Hong Kong Arts Centre initiative to let the city's residents and tourists have easy and free access to world-class art.

Co-curated by Fumio Nanjo, director of Mori Art Museum and director of international program at Hong Kong Art School, and Tim Marlow, artistic director at the Royal Academy of Arts, the show covers a broad sweep. Works featured include those by globally-revered names such as the British sculptor Antony Gormley, as well as Hong Kong's own rising stars like Wong Chi-yung and Ho Kwun-ting. Artists from the Chinese mainland (Zheng Guogu), the United States (Jenny Holzer) and Mexico (Bosco Sodi) are also on the list.

A mobile app with detailed information on each exhibit and a multilingual audio guide (Cantonese, English and Mandarin) is available to download. Dates: Through April 11

Venue: Central and Western District Promenade and Wan Chai https://www.harbourarts.hk/
