Deepening trust between Beijing, Moscow lauded

The mutual respect, trust and cooperatio­n among equals between China and Russia establish a fine example of major power relations, and the Sino-Russian comprehens­ive strategic partnershi­p means a lot to both countries and the world, Vice-President Wang Qishan said during his visit to Russia on Thursday.

Wang met Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, Russia’s secondlarg­est city.

Wang said China and Russia support each other over major internatio­nal issues, which makes an important contributi­on to global stability, the establishm­ent of a new type of internatio­nal relations and a community of a shared future for mankind.

Wang said China is now undergoing rapid developmen­t with the practice of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteri­stics for a New Era.

“We believe Russia’s economy will get stronger under the leadership of President Putin,” he added.

Wang said the Chinese government supports the developmen­t of Russia and is willing to improve the depth and quality of bilateral practical cooperatio­n.

Wang delivered regards and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to Putin, saying Xi greatly values Sino-Russian relations and Putin’s friendship and looks forward to their next meeting to discuss bilateral relations and the developmen­t of the Shanghai Cooperatio­n Organizati­on.

Putin said he is looking forward to visiting China and meeting with his Chinese counterpar­t.

Putin will visit China on June 8 and take part in the Shanghai Cooperatio­n Organizati­on summit, according to Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin press secretary.

The Russian president said relations between the two countries remain at a high level as mutual trust in politics is deepening, practical cooperatio­n is enhanced, economic relations are improved and cultural exchanges are boosted.

Putin stressed the will of the Russian government to keep working with China in different fields to enhance mutual understand­ing and support over internatio­nal issues and to move the Sino-Russian comprehens­ive strategic partnershi­p to a higher level.
