Bayer committed to promoting women’s welfare
Bayer AG joined with the China Women’s Development Foundation in May to raise women’s gynecological health awareness by launching a knowledge sharing project.
Launched by the foundation with Bayer’s sponsorship, the project educates women in China about gynecological health. The project includes putting publicity posters in hundreds of targeted hospitals and pharmacies nationwide, with input from thousands of doctors and pharmacists to reach those patients in need. The project has also launched online gynecology courses for patients.
The China Women’s Development Foundation is cooperating with local hospitals to offer free clinics for women with gynecological conditions. The total project aims to reach 3 million patients, including potential patients.
“Over half of married Chinese women have some form of gynecological condition, while the percentage is higher among those in rural areas,” said Liu Zhaohui, vice-director of the Chinese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Chinese Medical Association.
He Yong, vice-president of Bayer Consumer Health China, said, “As an advocate of self-care, Bayer Consumer Health has always been committed to promoting women’s health diagnosis and treatment, which is among the hot topics in today’s society.
“How to serve women better is one of Bayer’s future development strategies. We will continue to innovate in China in the future, to meet the diverse health needs of female Chinese consumers. Meanwhile, Bayer will fully utilize the new form of the Internet Plus strategy to communicate relevant knowledge about common women’s diseases more easily and more effectively,” He said.
The German industrial giant vowed to assist related departments to carry out various social welfare activities, to contribute to the promotion of women’s health in China.

“If they have contracted an illness, female patients should pay close attention to their health and actively receive regular treatment. Therefore, it is necessary for Chinese women to acquire related knowledge. Moderate exercise and healthy life habits are also needed,” Liu said.
According to Li Caiyun, assistant to the secretary general of the China Women’s Development Foundation, the charity project is an important measure to serve women’s health.
“The current situation of women’s reproductive health is of considerable importance to the development of society. Due to the particularity of gynecological diseases, and women’s general lack of related knowledge, many patients do not receive proper treatment.
“Therefore, we appeal to all women to actively understand the relevant knowledge of gynecological diseases. Once they are ill, they should seek medical treatment promptly and be treated as soon as possible to avoid serious problems,” Li said.
