Beijing technology impresses foreign reporters on visit
Journalists from countries involved in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization said they were impressed by technological achievements in the high-tech industry and modern agriculture in Beijing, during a recent group interview held by the local government.
The reporters investigated developments in personal electric vehicles, semiconductor materials, intelligent agriculture and virtual reality.
After trying her hand at using a self-balancing scooter, Inna Bandarovich, a reporter from International Radio Belarus, said that she was excited to have a go at the latest technologies.
“At first, you feel a little uncomfortable, but you quickly learn how to use it,” she said. “It’s simple, just hold it and push.”
As one of the companies featured in the media group’s visit, Segway-Ninebot displayed its electric vehicles, which are mainly targeted at young people, commuters and security guards as a replacement for bicycles.
“By producing goods that are connected to everyday life, I think it’s a very impressive innovation,” she said. “I know Beijing has changed a lot in the past 10 years and its focus on innovative development is a valuable theme, because everything is changing fast.”
Segway-Ninebot is located at Dongsheng Science and Technology Park, a high-tech business cluster in Haidian district of Beijing. The park mainly focuses on electronic information, renewable energy and new materials industries.
Chen Tong, general manager of Global Power Technology Co Ltd, located at the park, briefed visitors on the application of its semiconductor electronic parts, a new technology to improve power efficiency, in wind power and subway projects.
