Region to invest in drinking water

Hotan prefecture will launch a project with an investment of nearly 2 billion yuan ($300 million) to provide safe drinking water for residents. The project aims to divert or pump water from the Yurungkax and Karakax rivers, and set up facilities such as pipes and treatment plants, as the prefecture seeks to improve the quality of drinking water for 1.5 million residents in Hotan and three other counties, according to the local water conservancy bureau. Construction will start in August and finish before the end of next year.
