What they say
The BRICS countries cover a large area and represent a key component of economic globalization. The five members can work together, build mutual trust and discuss economic cooperation. I hope my company can have an opportunity to be part of the large picture of BRICS cooperation. China is a good friend of South Africa. It has invested a lot of money in Africa and has very good relationships with African countries. China has improved the livelihood of African countries, both socially and economically. I look forward to building partnerships with Chinese companies. Happy Ngcane, director of Sahara R&P Construction, South Africa Our country has zero tolerance toward crime. South African police support BRICS, and safety and security will be ensured throughout next week’s event (BRICS Summit). Our business is to protect people, combat crime, as well as end violence and all forms of unacceptable behavior that threaten the safety and security of the people. The country appreciates all the great minds sharing their ideas with us on China’s vision of jointly building a community of a shared future for mankind. We, as the South African police service, are committed to doing more to foster a culture of good governance and integrity. Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, divisional commissioner, Detective Service of the South African Police Service I expect to see more collaboration between China and South Africa. I see the BRICS summit to be held in Johannesburg as a bridge between the two countries. Africa is underdeveloped, and it’s not growing at a quick enough pace to meet the economic potential it has. So if BRICS countries supply funding, skills and expertise, we would have opportunities to unlock the continent’s full potential. Anti-globalization has wide-reaching negative impacts. Global trade is now led by the United States and China. So if the existing international trade scheme is damaged, it will affect all businesses, not just in the US or China. Tseko O. Mashifane, infrastructure projects architect, Contemporary Architecture Studio, South Africa We believe that exploration begins with sharing wisdom. This culture of sharing has been practiced throughout Africa for centuries. We share core capabilities within the countries we operate in and fulfill our corporate social responsibility with our core information and communications technology competence.
Let us follow the footprint of exploration of the great man Nelson Mandela by living up to his call to “make of the world a better place” through sharing wisdom, never stopping at failure, and letting exploration light the way forward. Xie Yi, director of media affairs, Huawei Southern Africa Region
