President Cyril Ramaphosa said President Xi has indicated that China is ready to invest and to work with South Africa in various sectors such as infrastructure‚ the ocean eco nomy‚ the green economy‚ science and technology‚ agriculture‚ environment as well as finance. The state visit is significant as both countries need to determine how best to further each other’s economic growth to realize win-win cooperation for common development, particularly in the current global context of “Trumpism” versus multilateralism.
President Cyril Ramaphosa and Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed the opening of a BAIC auto manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth’s Coega industrial development zone as a milestone for the two countries’ economies — with Xi expressing the hope that there would be “more and more cooperation” between South Africa and China.
