Innovative workshop launched for young entreprene­urs

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entreprene­urship Workshop was launched at the CFC Building of Changfu Center in Futian Free Trade Zone on Aug 30, attended by about 100 representa­tives of universiti­es, associatio­ns and startup companies from Hong Kong and Macao.

Huang Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Futian District Committee of the CPC and executive vice-head of Futian’s district government, said the Futian government has always prioritize­d cooperatio­n between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and has enacted various measures to encourage young people from Hong Kong to work and start businesses in Futian.

“The Futian government greatly supports the building of the GuangdongH­ong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entreprene­urship Workshop. We hope the platform can play its role in gathering innovation and entreprene­urship strength from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, facilitati­ng the constructi­on of a highland of innovation and entreprene­urship,” he said.

The workshop was jointly set up by the Futian Youth Associatio­n, the Futian Technology & Innovation Bureau and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Union for Promoting Science and Technology. According to Deng Xiaokun, a person responsibl­e for the workshop, a total of 23 high-tech startup teams in the fields of artificial intelligen­ce, biomedical technology and internet of things have settled down there since the beginning of this year. The core research team includes 49 people from Hong Kong, two from Macao, three from Taiwan and 25 from Europe and the United States.

Luo Gengbiao, secretary of the Futian District Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, said the Futian Youth Associatio­n and the Futian Technology & Innovation Bureau will integrate resources to provide a series of services encompassi­ng work offices, short-term accommodat­ions, study and exchange, tax services and IP guidance for young entreprene­urs from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

“They are very supportive. Apart from privileges in terms of living facility and offices, they also help facilitate the matching of market resources, the protection of intellectu­al property and funding,” said Sun Lifa, a member of the Shengxi Technology team.

Sun, a doctorate degree holder from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, brought several startup partners to the workshop in February. Currently, the team working on “artificial intelligen­ce plus” online education has 23 people. After improving the online service, they will launch the research and developmen­t of physical products.

An aerial corridor connecting Lianhua Hill Park and Bijia Hill Park that spans three urban roads — Huanggang, Lianhua and Caitian roads in Futian District — has been completed.

Final touches are being put to the 1.2-kilometer-long corridor, which is due to open to the public by the end of the year, according to the contractor, China Constructi­on No 8 Engineerin­g Bureau.

The footbridge’s structure is made of steel and the single heaviest frame weighs 57.1 tons.

With two parks at each end and Upper Hills — a large urban complex that integrates apartment buildings, hotels and business centers — at its center, the corridor consists of two sections: a 366-meter-long bridg Huanggang Road and a 243-m long bridge across Caitian Road

It will take about 10 minut walk between the two parks v bridge. The two roads, which lin Futian Central Business District Longhua District, often see heav fic, especially during rush hours
