World’s largest electronics show set to kick off
Global Sources Electronics — the world’s largest electronics trade fair — is gearing up for kick-off in Hong Kong from Oct 11, featuring more than 3,800 suppliers’ selections of cutting-edge electronic devices, smart-living and gaming products, smartphones and tablets.
The fall edition of the trade show, to be staged at AsiaWorld-Expo and presented by Global Sources — a HongKong based business-to-business company that facilitates trade from China to the world — is expected to attract more than 65,000 buyers from 150 countries who are going after “new products, new ideas and new technology”.
The fair comprises two phases with more than 7,500 booths showcasing the latest technology and consumer electronic products and offering an excellent opportunity for buyers to source their products all in one go, as well as for suppliers to demonstrate their latest products.
The first phase — Consumer Electronics — will be held from Oct 11 to 14, exhibiting the latest home, outdoor and auto electronics, plus gaming, smart-living, components, commercial electronics, computers and accessories.
Phase two — Mobile Electronics — will take place from Oct 18 to 21, displaying virtual reality/augmented reality devices, wearables and accessories.
“As Chinese companies face new challenges and increase their potential for success on the global playing field, Global Sources will continue to do what it has always done — support its suppliers in driving growth, developing new markets, and moving up the value chain by offering the most effective and comprehensive marketing channels to attract high-quality buyers,” said Tommy Wong, president of Global Sources Electronics Group.
For this season’s show, audio electronics are in bigger focus, with speakers, headphones, earphones, amplifiers, microphones and other audio electronics having their own dedicated sourcing zone.
Chinese suppliers of audio products are steering research and development efforts toward wireless connectivity, sound quality and durability as several tech giants have ventured into wireless audio technology.
Huawei recently released wireless earphone FreeBuds 2 Pro, which can be simply charged by placing the case on the back of the Huawei Mate 20.
Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi launched its wireless earbuds last month weighing 4.5 grams, which can last up to three hours of continuous music playback with only an hour fully charged.
A group of technology companies based in the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area will showcase their latest innovations with lightweight and ingenious design to the public. Smart audio electronics manufacturer Jiangmen Audiovisio Electronics Co Ltd, which has been an exhibitor at the trade fair for more than a decade, will bring children to the fair to talk to robots equipped with dynamic speech recognition technology.
The most outstanding, innovative and unique audio products will be recognized and given the Audio Excellence Award, which is coorganized by the China Audio Industry Association.
The next-generation 5G networks are expected to unleash the potential of internet of things. The brand new 5G AIoT (Affordances in the Internet of Things) Park in the fair will showcase the upcoming 5G technology and the integration of artificial intelligence. The zone will highlight how physical devices, appliances and even vehicles can have improved functionality when automated via the internet. China’s tech giants Baidu, Tencent and more will also be participating to feature their own take on the technology.
As AI is playing a bigger role in our daily lives, new pavilions relating to AI technologies and products will be set up at the fair with advanced driver assistance systems and navigation, as well as robotics.
Moreover, attendees can take a closer look at the latest AI technologies and interactive exhibits in the AI Experience Zone. The NextGen Components Zone will display the parts that enable new tech products for automotive, drones and AR/VR, smart living, and smart security to meet rising market demand.
According to a report published by Tencent in June this year, China’s esports market is expected to surpass 20 billion yuan ($2.9 billion) with more than 350 million domestic esports users by 2020.
Considering the fast growing esports market, Global Sources Consumer Electronics aims to provide better gaming experience for players by featuring gaming electronics with comfortable palmrest keyboards, mice with strategically placed buttons and easy-grip shapes, convenient multifunction consoles and accessory chargers, plus more next-gen gaming electronics.
Moreover, attendees can experience HTC Corp’s newly launched wireless adapter that frees hardcore gamers from the tethers of VR experience at the show.
Highlights will include a live gaming performance featuring popular games such as League of Legends, PES, StarCraft II and PUBG.
A special product launch area and product gallery will be unveiled to give visitors a close encounter with new, innovative products. Electric personal transporters with on-site test drives for buyers, drones, and cameras and accessories can be found at Asia’s largest Outdoor Electronics Pavilion.
Meanwhile, a comprehensive conference program covering topics like the combination of AI and IoT, mobiles, esports, smart sourcing and online retail will let attendees have real-time communication with experts in the industry.
Since 2016, Global Sources has organized a Global Sources Summit at the event, attended by more than 100 international online retailers. This year, more than 20 e-commerce and sourcing experts will share their knowledge and experience to help online retailers grow their business during the three-day conference from Oct 27 to 29.
“And, at the same time, the summit will provide a valuable sourcing opportunity for these online retailers to source curated products offline at trade shows,” Wong said. The summit has been featured on Forbes as one of the top business conferences in China.
Online and Amazon sellers will have access to a wide range of sourcing services, including small orders accepted by some exhibitors and seminars featuring online retail experts.
It’s the fourth year that a Startup Launchpad pavilion has been set up at the show to gather the most innovative and shelf-ready Hardware Startups and retail solutions at one place. Among the 300 booths from 21 countries, 98 percent of the new exhibitors will launch their new products.
“Meeting with these startups, we can help them transit from online quickly to retail and they can help us with sharp, new, cool products, and that works really well,” said exhibitor Charles Brown.
This fall, electronic consumer products will come in three trends — smaller and more reliable electronic components; improved surfacemount technology capability; and more efficient power sources.
Global Sources has become a trusted business partner with buyers and suppliers since 1971. The group aims to take advantage of its global platform to offer strong opportunities for future growth.
Global Sources Electronics will be followed by the Lifestyle show and Global Sources Fashion from Oct 27 to 30.
