Students from across the Chinese mainland, HK, Macao and Taiwan offered a platform to discuss journalism and appreciate their potential
Young contestants, instructors and judges from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the Chinese mainland say the Campus Newspaper Awards bring them together and allow them to communicate with their peers and media stakeholders. They said they could also develop their strengths and make further progress together.
Angela Cheung Ka-po, winner of Best in Feature Video Reporting, said all the awardwinning works were interesting and of high quality.
Cheung graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University and is now working in media industry. She said the contest helped broaden her horizons and learn much from other excellent multimedia works.
Vimy Chow from Shantou University, a winner of the second runner-up of Best in News Reporting (Chinese language), appreciated the contest, saying the award was a “surprising gift”.
“The recognition from the award will inspir me,” Chow said.
Young prize winners from Taiwan also spok highly of the event.
Three students from Chengchi University in Taiwan, Li Chang-yi, Chen Dong and Chang Wen-jung, said the prize was a recognition o all the effort they put into their stories. They are winners of the category — Best in Campu News Reporting (Chinese language) — with a series covering the supply of teachers in Taiwan.
