Columbia Sportswear names John Soh VP, GM
Outdoor apparel brand Columbia Sportswear Co named John Soh (pictured) as vice-president and general manager for its China arm, effective February 2019. In his new role, Soh will report to Doug Morse, senior vice-president for emerging brands and Asia-Pacific operations. Tim Boyle, president and CEO of Columbia Sportswear, said Soh’s experience in apparel brands in Asia, and particularly in China, makes him the perfect fit for the company’s growing market in China. Boyle also said he looks forward to an enhanced market performance under Soh’s leadership, as the company is working to evolve the brand to meet growing consumer need.
Ning Min may rise to Legend Holdings’ ED
Legend Holdings Corp, an investment corporation and parent of tech giant Lenovo Group Ltd, nominated Ning Min for executive director on its board, but the final decision will be made on Dec 27 during a meeting of shareholders. Ning currently serves as a senior vice-president for Legend Holdings, and is also a member of its executive committee, and chief financial officer. In his current roles, Ning is responsible for corporate development strategy, daily operations, finance, asset management, and public affairs. Ning also serves as chairman and board director of several subsidiaries of Legend Holdings.
China Merchants Sec hires Xiong as president
as president. The appointment is yet to receive the approval of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. Xiong has been the company’s executive director and CEO since 2017, and has also been the vice-president since 2005. His role as vice-president will cease after his new appointment receives regulatory approval. Xiong also served as board director of China Merchants Securities International Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Merchants Securities, since 2015, and as president of China Merchants Securities’ asset management and futures branches.
Vice-chairman Tan leaves China Southern
China Southern Airlines announced on Nov 30 the resignation of Tan Wangeng as board director, vice-chairman, and general manager. Tan is taking up a new work arrangement. He was appointed deputy Party secretary and deputy general manager of Commercial Aircraft Corp of China Ltd, or COMAC. He will take over from Liu Linzong who was named board director and deputy Party secretary of Aero Engine Corp of China. Tan has nearly 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, and has served China Southern Airlines for over 12 years.
Nathan Stoner to steer Cummins in mainland
Cummins Inc, a global designer, manufacturer and distributor of engines and generators, appointed Nathan Stoner as general manager for strategic partners and generatorrelated businesses in China. In his new position, Stoner will be responsible for managing cooperation and relationships with Cummins’ partners in China, enhancing business performance of its joint ventures in the generator sector, and building an effective team. Stoner is experienced in management and has served in multiple roles within Cummins.
