Xiongan New Area in Hebei province is about to reach its full-scale construction stage after a series of plans were finalized over the past two years.

The blueprint for Xiongan’s development has been drawn up, and we need to implement the blueprint thoroughly. In the new stage, we will adhere to a development concept which is open and market-oriented, thus giving full play to the decisive role of the market in allocating resources.

More than 30 plans have been made for the development of the area, including an overall plan, a plan for the protection of Baiyangdian — a wetland in the area — and plans for flood control, earthquake prevention and comprehensive transportation.

Hong Kong and Macao’s advanced expertise and rich experience in city management, market operation, investment and trade facilitation should serve as examples for Guangdong province to boost its development.

Meanwhile, the large market in Guangdong should be taken full advantage of by the two special administrative regions in expanding business and trade.

Guangdong will work together with the two SARs to address issues such as elderly care, medical care, and recognition of professional qualifications for people in the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area.

To promote high-quality manufacturing development, the country will simultaneously foster and develop emerging industries and new technologies, address industry overcapacity and promote intelligent manufacturing.

Ride-hailing services are of great significance to economic development,

employment, technological innovation and quality of life improvement.

We will fully support the development of the ridehailing industry. We should also foster the system’s strengths and address its weaknesses while always safeguarding public safety. All types of businesses are ultimately in the service of the people. We must keep safety as a top priority.

China will establish systems to subject violators found guilty of the production and sale of counterfeit or substandard goods to more severe punishments, including hefty fines and compensation for consumers. Violators will have all bogus or substandard products confiscated and destroyed.

A whistleblower system will be established to more effectively deter such violations. Through these efforts, we will force manufacturers of counterfeit or substandard goods to pay a prohibitive price for their misdeeds.

Market regulators across China will focus on key areas in tackling violations

Over the years, exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Straits have become more extensive and the bonds of affection between the two sides have deepened. Our compatriots in Taiwan now better understand that only when crossStraits relations improve will they have a better future.

We are increasingly capable of promoting peaceful reunification of the country and bringing benefits to compatriots on both sides. Although the situation remains severe and complicated, we have always taken the initiative in maintaining the dominant role in cross-Straits relations.

National reunification is a historic task and an unstoppable trend, and the fact that both sides belong to one country has never changed as Taiwan is part of China.
