Coca-Cola reveals how much plastic it uses
Coca-Cola has revealed it used 3 million metric tons of plastic packaging in a year. The finding was part of a report by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation which pushes for companies and governments to do more to tackle pollution. In total, 150 companies are pledging to reduce their plastic usage as part of the campaign. Last year, the company announced a pledge to recycle a used bottle or can for each one the company sells by 2030.
A research team has identified nine genes responsible for eyebrow colors, according to a report published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology recently. By studying genomes, researchers from China, the Netherlands, Australia, Britain and the United States analyzed samples of 6,513 European individuals. They found that particular genes could affect both eyebrow and hair color.
Yu Yonghe, 70, has completed 20-plus full marathons, a feat that won him great admiration from young runners. Yu, a retired electrician in Changchun, Jilin province, started training for long-distance running after retirement in 2009. “Long-distance running requires perseverance and physical strength,” Yu said. “Initially, physical strength was a challenge, but my perseverance conquered it,” he added.
