China is our sec­ond largest mar­ket out­side of the United States. We have been able to grow our busi­ness in China sig­nif­i­cantly over the last few years, scal­ing it to close to 4,000 em­ploy­ees to­day and serv­ing thou­sands of cus­tomers across the na­tion. Our fo­cus in China has been to serve our cus­tomers in fields like pharma, health­care, en­vi­ron­men­tal and food safety, and we con­tinue to fore­see strong op­por­tu­ni­ties in these seg­ments go­ing for­ward. At the same time we be­lieve that mar­ket needs are chang­ing and our ca­pa­bil­ity to cap­ture this growth will rely on more “in China for China” in­no­va­tion. This brings us closer to our cus­tomers as we con­tinue to in­vest in our lo­cal R&D ca­pa­bil­i­ties, hav­ing more than 100 sci­en­tists to­day, fo­cused on “in China for China” in­no­va­tion projects.
