Char­i­ta­ble loans ben­e­fit stu­dents

Stu­dents from poverty-stricken fam­i­lies in south­west China’s Guangxi Zhuang au­ton­o­mous re­gion have ben­e­fited from the lo­cal govern­ment’s credit loans. Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cials from the Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tion in Guangxi, there are an es­ti­mated 320,000 im­pov­er­ished stu­dents who have ap­plied for the aid loan in the province and the credit loan has reached around 2.2 bil­lion yuan ($330 mil­lion). Sta­tis­tics show that around 648,700 un­der­priv­i­leged stu­dents got as­sis­tance from 2008 to the end of 2015 and 44.86 per­cent of them had ac­cess to the lo­cally-granted stu­dent loan, which is much
