More than 300 kg of elephant tusks seized

Vietnamese authorities said they’ve seized 309 kilograms of elephant tusks illegally imported from Nigeria. A customs official said the tusks were seized atHanoi’s airport on Saturday. She said onMonday that the cargo had been declared as glass. Wildlife trade monitoring network TRAFFIC said in a statement on Sunday, “Illegal trade in ivory continues to be a major threat to the survival of elephant populations in Africa.” The tusks are used as jewelry and home decorations in Vietnam.
