Innovation comes to industrial design in China
Wu Di is excited that the Sino-Finland industrial design enterprise alliance was founded in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, in August.
The strategic cooperation will see the alliance undertaking 20 projects every year and enabling many wellknown design companies to serve the increasing needs of industrial design in Northeast China.
“This will further stimulate the development of the China Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Design Center,” said Wu, deputy head of Huanggu District, where the center is located.
“People who seize the opportunity of developing industrial design, will gain from the initiative in the market,” he said.
Founded in December 2015, the CEMIDC has brought together design institutes, companies, colleges andmany other sources of innovation to offer industrial design services.
By now, it has attracted dozens of companies, including Germany’s Steinbeis Technology Transfer Network and Autodesk Inc. The revenue is expected to reach 5 billion yuan ($749.6 million) within five years.
Development of industrial design capabilities is part of the plan to upgrade China’s manufacturing industry and speed up its transition to high-end integrated services.
Some cities in the eastern and southern areas of China, such as Shanghai, Yiwu and Shenzhen, are already on the way to developing the sunrise industry.
According to the “Made in China 2025” strategy, the country will construct a number of innovative design clusters with a global influence
