Long underwear rumors dismissed
Online rumors that a person’s tolerance to the cold can be adversely affected on a genetic level if they wear long underwear have been dismissed by scientists. Guo Jia, a doctoral degree holder at the National Institute of Biological Sciences in Beijing, said experiments had proved that wearing long underwear has no effect on the genes. However, by refusing to wear such clothing, it is possible to develop a greater capacity to withstand the cold. Lu Jun, a senior orthopaedist at ZhongdaHospital Southeast University, added there was no evidence that osteoarthritis is caused by cold weather.
